One of the first ingredients required in the ability for wind development companies to propose new developments on Skye is for individual landowners to agree to lease land to the development companies, and where these developments are located on common grazing ground, the approval of the common grazing committees will also be required to enable the Crofting Commission or Land Court to amend the related grazings rights. There are clearly a number of enabling landowners who own land on Skye wishing to see wind developments proceed in light of the volume of projects being pursued.

One of Skye’s landowners who is not in principle in favour of the scale of wind development is Charles Macdonald who has voiced his concerns publicly both at a meeting held in Portree in February, and also in his article published in the West Highland Free Press earlier this year and which can be read via the link below.
